- In 2012, Dhawan married Melbourne-based Ayesha Mukherjee, an amateur boxer. She was a mother of two daughters, Rhea and Aliyah, from her previous marriage. In early 2014, she gave birth to a boy named Zoravar.
- Dhawan was the highest run scorer in 2004 Under-19 World Cup, the 2013 & 2017 Champions Trophy tournaments, and Asia Cup 2018. He holds the record for the fastest to reach 1000 runs in ICC ODI tournaments.
