Alycia Baumgardner
Alycia Baumgardner is an American professional boxer from Fremont, Ohio, nicknamed "The Bomb" due to her dynamite punching power.
As an amateur, Baumgardner won the welterweight silver medal at the 2014 National Golden Gloves tournament, and went one better at the 2014 U.S. National PAL Championships by claiming the lightweight gold medal.
She turned professional in 2017, making a successful debut against Britain Hart on 4 March, winning the bout via 1st-round TKO. On 13 November 2021, she became the unified super-featherweight champion after defeating Terri Harper at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield, England. The fight was aired live on DAZN Boxing (2015) as part of the undercard for Kiko Martínez vs. Kid Galahad with Baumgardner stopping her opponent by a vicious TKO in the 4th round to claim the WBC and IBO world titles. The referee was later praised by experts for stopping the fight just as Baumgardner was set to pounce on a dazed Harper, who appeared to be knocked out whilst still on her feet. Alycia's victory over Harper won her the World Boxing Council's "2021 Female Knockout of the Year" award, as well as Boxing Scene's "Female Knockout of the Year" award.
In December 2021, Alycia signed a multi-fight promotional deal with English promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport and, on 16 April 2022, she made her first title defense against the former unified featherweight world champion, Edith Soledad Matthysse. The bout took place at the AO Arena in Manchester, England, as part of the Conor Benn vs. Chris van Heerden undercard with Baumgardner successfully retaining her belts via unanimous decision.
