Megan Leavey

Megan Leavey was born October 28, 1983 in Valley Cottage, New York, USA. She is best known as a former United States Marine Corps corporal who served as a Military Police K9 handler during the Iraq War. She served two deployments in Iraq first to Fallujah in May 2005, and then to Ramadi in May 2006, with her bomb-sniffing German Shepherd partner, "Rex" (E168). Both, Leavey and Rex were wounded by an improvised explosive device (IED) while she and her dog were leading a U.S. Army patrol down a street during their second tour. Leavey and Rex became the subject of the 2017 biographical film, 'Megan Leavey'.
