The Cavinder twins, known for their basketball skills at the University of Miami, are expanding their brand beyond the court. On Saturday, Haley and Hanna Cavinder, both 23, walked in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Runway Show at the W South Beach, part of Miami Swim Week.
Wearing blue and orange bikinis, a nod to their alma mater’s colors, the twins shared the runway with models like Jena Sims, golfer Brooks Koepka‘s wife. Their appearance comes less than two months after they announced their return to Miami’s women’s basketball team for the 2024-25 season.
The runway stint marks another strategic move for the Cavinders, who have adeptly navigated the new Name, Image and Likeness (Nil) rules that allow them to make money as college athletes. Last June, they reportedly earned $2 million from such deals, positioning themselves as savvy entrepreneurs in the burgeoning world of college athlete endorsements.

The year’s second major, the PGA Championship, takes place at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, May 16-19. Defending champion Brooks Koepka (pictured above) aims for his fourth PGA Championship title. He’ll face tough competition in Masters champion and world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Jon Rahm and reigning U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark. After a disappointing performance at the Masters, Tiger Woods hopes to show some improvement in his game. “I think every one of the majors he plays he’s got a better chance,” says ESPN analyst and reporter Andy North. “I think they all become easier walks for him as we get into the season. But I think he’s played well at Valhalla. He’s got some great memories there. He’s got a lot of great shots he can step up on tees and remember hitting. I think that’s really important.

Sims already made a name for herself at the PGA Championship. At the tournament, held by the Professional Golfers’ Association of America in May, Koepka won his fifth major title. Sims was not in attendance,...

The Senate subcommittee investigating the recent merger of rivals the PGA Tour and Liv Golf League has set its first hearing for next week, inviting two PGA Tour execs to testify.
PGA Tour COO Ron Price and board member Jimmy Dunne will testify before the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations on July 11.
PGA Commissioner Jay Monahan has been on medical leave and was not on the two-person witness list released Monday.
The panel will probe the merger deal, reached June 6, citing its impact on the future of the sport as well its implications for Saudi Arabia’s influence in the U.S. Liv, which had lured several of the PGA Tour’s top players to its side as part of the bitter feud with the PGA, is backed by the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund.

The US Open golf championship at the Los Angeles Country Club concluded with Wyndham Clark taking the trophy.
“I just felt like my mom was watching over me today and, she can’t be here and I miss you mom,” Clark said when presented with his trophy. “I just feel like I’ve worked so hard and I’ve dreamed about this moment for so long. There’s been so many times I’ve visualized being here in front of you guys and winning this championship, I just feel like it’s my time.”
Rory McIlroy placed second place and told NBC “It was hard to get the ball really close all day” after coming close to winning.
“I hung in there, I fought right until the end,” he added. “Didn’t quite get the job done but… I’m going to keep coming back until I get another one.

Ending two years of rancor and legal warfare, the PGA Tour has agreed to merge with Saudi-backed Liv Golf.
In a joint statement, the two organizations declared the stunning turn of events “a landmark agreement to unify the game of golf, on a global basis.” Technically, the pact that was announced is a framework for a deal, with a finalized version expected in the coming weeks.
The new spirit of comity represents a significant departure from the barbed exchanges between the parties in dueling antitrust lawsuits as well as players and fans on opposite sides of the split. The upstart Liv maintained that the well-entrenched PGA had engaged in anticompetitive practices by punishing its players, while PGA objected to Liv coming into its turf and poaching talent with hefty payouts.

In a move that practically no one in the sports or broadcasting worlds saw coming, it was on Tuesday that the PGA Tour and Liv Golf will merge in an effort to promote golf around the world. The two rival tours will also unite with Dp World Tour — the PGA’s European Tour — to form a new commercial entity to promote all of the brands in order to deliver “maximum excitement and competition among the game’s best players,” according to a press release issued by the PGA Tour.
While the three tours will continue to exist and operate independently, Liv’s parent company Public Investment Fund (Pif) will make a capital investment into the new commercial enterprise, whose name will be announced at a later date. Pif is run and funded by Saudi prince Mohammed bin Salman, who has been accused of crimes against humanity and the brutal murder of Suadi-American journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Tiger Woods withdrew from the Masters before the resumption of the third round because of an injury Sunday, ending his streak of completing all 72 holes of every tournament he has played at Augusta National as a professional.
The tournament announced about 90 minutes before play began that Woods, who is still hobbled by the effects of the 2021 car accident that nearly cost him his right leg, had withdrawn. “I am disappointed to have to Wd this morning due to reaggravating my plantar fasciitis,” Woods said on Twitter. “Thank you to the fans and to (at)TheMasters who have shown me so much love and support. Good luck to the players today!”

Augusta, April 9 (Ians) Brooks Koepka added one more birdie to his total to get to 13-under, even as his closest rival, Jon Rahm, slipped from 10-under to nine-under and the lead had swelled to four shots at the 87th Masters.
The play was suspended just as the lead trio approached the seventh green, which itself had a lot of water. That means the lead group, Koepka, Rahm and amateur Sam Bennett will need to play almost 30 holes on Sunday.
Augusta National officials announced that play will resume on Sunday at 8.30 am and the final round with players starting from first and tenth is expected to begin at 12.30 pm.
By the time play was called off, Koepka with a customary birdie on the Par-5 second — his seventh on a Par-5 apart from one eagle — had moved to 13-under, while Rahm, who started the third round at 10-under, picked a shot on...

Tom Carter, president and COO of The CW parent Nexstar Media Group, said the debut of Saudi-backed Liv Golf in late-February was a hit and could help pave the way for more sports coming to the network.
“It was very successful from our perspective,” Carter said during an appearance at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom Conference. He said the average hourly audience was about 500,000, which he said was one-quarter to one-third the size of rival PGA Tour broadcasts of the same weekend’s Honda Classic. “But the PGA’s been around for 40 years and this was Liv’s first broadcast. Netflix has been spending a lot of time developing some pretty niche genres. In recent years, the streaming service provider has worked hard to establish a sports docuseries genre on its platform. It is paying off. Full Swing, Netflix’s latest sports docuseries, is a hit with fans. So much of a hit, in fact, that viewers are already clamoring to learn if the show will be back for a second season just a few weeks after its premiere. While nothing is official, there seems to be some positive movement.

The debut of live sports on The CW didn’t make much of a dent with viewers.
The network’s inaugural broadcasts of the Saudi-backed Liv Golf league drew an average of 288,500 viewers and a 0.18 household rating on Saturday and Sunday. By comparison, the weekend’s PGA Tour event averaged just under 2 million viewers — about seven times as many — over the same two days on NBC. The two Liv rounds on The CW also came in behind four PGA Tour telecasts on the Golf Channel.
Despite the small numbers, however, the CEO of The CW’s parent company said on an earnings call Tuesday that he was pleased with Liv’s debut on the network.
“Those numbers exceeded our expectations and, and most importantly, the affiliates, as well as our own stations, were thrilled,” Nexstar CEO Perry Sook said on the call. He said 1.4 million people watched at least a...

Netflix continued its experimentation with sports-related content this past week with its latest golf documentary, “Full Swing,” jumping into the top streaming charts.
Featuring the biggest names in golf, including Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth, and Brooks Koepka, the first two episodes of “Full Swing” scored for the streamer, securing two of the top 10 programs on the streaming charts last week, according to the latest Wrap Report, which highlights TV viewership trends collected from Samba TV’s panel of more than 3 million households drawn from over 25 million connected TVs, and balanced to the U.S. Census.
The timeliness of the series’ launch also capitalizes on the buzz generated by ongoing controversies around the PGA and Liv golf tours. While Netflix has made passing attempts to secure the rights for smaller sporting events in the past, it has so far focused the bulk of its efforts on delivering impactful documentaries and sports-themed...

Enjoy golf? You will simply love this. And if you aren´t a fan, this can be appreciated because Full Swing puts us in the skin and lives of these pros beyond the apparent tranquility of a world that is anything but… peaceful.
Eight really entertaining chapters full of luxury, interviews, oddities and anecdotes about golfing that present this sport as a little more than mere sport and bring us close to a world that few of us were aware of, and which from now on, will be much more interesting.
In the same vein as Break Point (this one was about tennis), in this series we are taken on the great tournaments and players, also new players in another generation that leaves Tiger Woods behind, who seek to carve a space for themselves in the history of the sport.
This series is very entertaining and, above all, is not focused exclusively for golfers.

The hyper-competitive world of the PGA tour takes center stage in “Full Swing,” a new Netflix documentary series about the biggest names in professional golf. The project hails from the same creative team that turned Formula 1 racing into one of the biggest shows on television with “F1: Drive to Survive,” and features participation from golf superstars like Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas, and Brooks Koepka. Much like “Drive to Survive,” it follows the human drama that unfolds over the course of each golf season as players travel the world to compete in various tournaments.
If “Full Swing” generates a fraction of the interest for the PGA that “Drive to Survive” did for F1, it would be a massive boost to a league that definitely needs one. In addition to pre-existing problems like an aging audience and the massive ratings drop that will inevitably come when Tiger Woods retires,...
