Known for her quirky yet genuine songwriting, Theresa Rex consistently resonates with her audience through her unique blend of playful and sincere lyrics. ‘Ugly Cry’ continues this trend, delivering her messages with infectious scandipop beats that fans have come to adore.
“I think most of us know that feeling of getting drunk and reaching that point of no return, where the lid just flips and the valves open, and you become an over-sharing, over-emotional, ugly-crying fool, sitting there on the bar bathroom floor asking your friends to hold your hair, do we not? Well, if you do, this might be the messy-girl anthem for you. Sometimes all you need to do is cry until the whole damn place is stuck under water,” Theresa Rex tells.
The track is driven by a simple yet engaging acoustic guitar arrangement, combined with a clever chord progression that makes ‘Ugly Cry’ both impactful and irresistibly catchy.

Black Pumas needed one more song. At a festival in Austin a few years ago, the then-new soul-rock band had plowed through every number in its repertoire and had been called back for an encore. Desperate for anything to play, lead singer Eric Burton grabbed his guitar and began performing an older tune he’d learned in his youth. “The reaction I got from the crowd was very deep,” he recalls. “And it made me think, ‘I can’t ignore the power of this song and the way it connects with what’s going on.

The karaoke game train rolls on with the only video game franchise in the ever-diminishing genre, Let’s Sing, still around! Now in it’s 2020 iteration, the RavensCourt/Voxler title is now seemingly the only karaoke game left in a market that used to be completely saturated. So maligned is the genre that Sony recently announced it’s closing the Singstar servers and there’s nary a sight of a new We Sing game. However… Let’s Sing is Still flying the flag for a genre that, only a few years ago was flourishing. So what happened?
Well I blame TikTok… I joke of course, but as a super-fan of karaoke games I can’t understand why we can get a myriad of Need for Speed games no one wants, a ton of Assassin’s Creed titles that are – essentially – all the same game yet it’s the karaoke genre that’s dying out.

Liam Payne stopped by Vevo’s New York City studio to perform stripped-down versions of his new single “Stack It Up” and his Jonas Blue collaboration “Polaroid.”
Payne released the Ed Sheeran co-penned, bouncy “Stack It Up” last month. For his Vevo performance, Payne maintains the upbeat flare of the financially ambitious track, sans A Boogie Wit da Hoodie’s verse. For his solo version of the Jonas Blue and Lennon Stella collaboration “Polaroid,” Payne transforms the sweeping Edm-pop track into an emotional ballad that highlights his vocal range.

Liam Payne has released his first new single of the year, the Ed Sheeran-penned “Stack It Up.” A Boogie wit da Hoodie also features on the money-hungry new single.
Above a midtempo beat, Payne desires more for himself. “If you wanna stack it up, man/You gotta work for it/Ain’t nobody gonna be doin’ it for ya,” he sings on the catchy hook. A Boogie shares similar sentiments, worried that he wouldn’t be able to keep his girl if he weren’t rich.

Take it from Jonas Blue, the U.K.-based DJ and producer known for his hits with Rita Ora, Jp Cooper, and his tropical house remix of Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car:” When it comes to creating a memorable DJ set, the secret is knowing how master your mix.
“A turntable is the classic DJ’s weapon for playing vinyl,” he explains, “but the mixer is the device that actually allows you to blend multiple tracks together to create a mix.”

Tiësto, Rita Ora and Jonas Blue teamed up for their new collaborative song “Ritual” in May, and the trio has followed it up with a new colorful, dance-driven video. In the clip, a bevy of dancers strike poses that form different shapes. Ora joins them and is also seen on a pedestal as they move around her.
In the sultry clip, Rita Ora hits choreographed cues with her grooving cohorts as she sings the song about lust’s lingering effects. “And I’ll always/Say your name like a prayer...

Dua Lipa, Calvin Harris and the 1975 were big winners at Wednesday night’s Brit Awards, taking home the Best British Single (for Harris and Lipa’s “One Kiss”), Album of the Year (for The 1975’s “Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships”) as well as Best British Group (the 1975).
While the show, livestreamed from London’s O2 Arena, features plenty of non-English talent, the Brits are basically the U.K.’s version of the Grammys, where Little Mix, the 1975, George Ezra and Tom Walker are superstars and Jay and Beyonce and Drake and Ariana are relegated to the “international” categories. The evening featured eye-popping performances from Little Mix, Harris — who was joined by both Sam Smith and Lipa — and not least Hugh Jackman, who opened the show with a “Greatest Showman” bit. There were also comparatively low-key performances from sultry R&B singer Jorja Smith and a duet between Jess Glynne and...

Pop-rap act Jack & Jack performed their breezy song “No One Compares to You” on Tuesday’s Late Late Show. The duo, set up on a sleek stage that resembled a modern art exhibit, brought an organic touch to the track – utilizing a live drummer and electric guitarist. They alternated vocals throughout the cut: Jack Gilinsky handled most of the lead lines, with Jack Johnson taking over at various points in the verses.

If you've watched Nashville, then you probably already know Lennon Stella's name. The 19-year-old singer and her real-life sister, Maisy, played Maddie and Daphne Conrad on the hit show and eventually rose to stardom with their addicting music covers. Now that the series has officially ended, Stella is forging her own way as a solo artist with a fresh new sound. In addition to releasing a few catchy singles, she recently teamed up with One Direction's Liam Payne and Jonas Blue for the song "Polaroid." And that's just the beginning.
Not only does she have a few concerts lined up, but she also has a brand-new Ep called Love, Me out on Nov. 16. I recently had a chance to sit down with the rising star at the Hyatt Centric Times Square for its first Sofar Sounds concert event, where she discussed all the exciting...

Stripped of CD playing time limitations, Spotify devised the fluid soundtrack last year, one that could add song after song as a TV show progressed. HBO’s “Insecure” was the guinea pig; by mid-October it was up to 159 songs. The streaming service is taking it further this month, partnering with Jonah Hill and A24 on the first evolving playlist for a film, “Mid90s.”
After Spotify hosted a premiere party that included DJs spinning many of the 200 songs Hill listened to while writing the film, the streaming service went live with a 17-track soundtrack/playlist with the intention of adding more tracks and videos from the era. It’s taking a shot at creating a pop-culture moment with the audience that made phenoms out of “The Greatest Showman,” “La La Land” and “A Star Is Born.”
“Soundtracks are evolving to playlists and experiential moments,” says Xavier Jernigan, Spotify’s head of cultural partnerships.

Surprise surprise, we’re back with Another review of a karaoke game! What’s more surprising is that it seems Let’s Sing 2019 is the only update to any of this generations karaoke game franchises this year. So no head-to-head review for this year unfortunately. But what that does mean is that Let’s Sing has the entire karaoke market to itself – whether that’s a good thing remains to be seen.
Last year we struggled to find both Let’s Sing 2018 and We Sing Pop at retail – which is undoubtedly why this years game, Let’s Sing 2019, has made its debut digitally Before coming to retail later this year. What the issue with distribution is I do not know but I’m hoping a digital-only future is not on the cards. Going digital only would not bode well for the future of the series, or the genre as a whole.
