Sarah Haaf (Sarah Michal Haaf) was born in Iowa City, Iowa to Mary and Daniel Haaf. She comes from Irish/Bohemian/German decent. Sarah began acting at the age of 6, sharing the stage on and off with her singer/actress mother. Her father coached her in softball until she joined her high school's Varsity team as an 8th grader.
After suffering a serious back injury during her senior year volleyball season, Sarah turned down her college softball scholarship. She briefly attended the University of Iowa, influenced by their writing program, (the Iowa Writer's Workshop in which she won a contest for her poetry and attended a course) and joined a professional theater company in Iowa City.
After a stint within the indie film market in Minneapolis, Sarah moved to New York City to further her acting studies. She studied in NYC at the New York Film Academy, followed by The Acting Studio, Inc., then Cody Dorkin's Studio 24 in Sacramento, before heading to Los Angeles where she works both in front of and behind the camera while continuing her actor training. She has trained with Clay Banks, James Price, and Sharon Chatten to name a few.
Sarah is a published author, in both fiction and non-fiction, as well as writes for multiple magazine publications. She writes primarily for the screen. Sarah completed her directorial debut for the short film, "Open Road" in 2017.
Sarah has one sibling, Stephanie Haaf. Sarah's mother married Austin Wedemeyer Sr., in 2008, following the sudden passing of Sarah's father in 2006.
