Dougie's screenplay for
Hooligans (2005) contains 17 private jokes some of which relate to his RAF career. For example,, the name of the hooligan firm The GSE has its origins in Brimson's trade which was a Ground Support Equipment engineer.
The film was originally written about the rivalry between Tottenham and Arsenal but was changed to West Ham and Millwall at the request of one of the producers.
