With production training from NYU and an MA in Media Studies from The New School, Sundance award winner Rob VanAlkemade has been a broadcast showrunner/executive producer for National Geographic, LOGO, CMT and A&E. Rob has also been, variously, a documentary producer, director, cinematographer, editor and/or writer, covering weapons inspections in Iraq, elections in Afghanistan, therapies for autistic children, honors for civilian heroes, profiles on combat troops and veterans, social and political activists, artists, survivalists, bounty hunters, police and sheriffs, Holocaust survivors, and many others.
Most recently, Rob directed episodes of A&E's Digital Addiction until becoming executive producer at Medicinal Media, where he creates, curates and commissions documentary content about beneficial media.
Rob is particularly aligned with Medicinal Media's focus on accessibility, inclusion, and mental health awareness, as he also navigates and curates the recreational and therapeutic media in his two young kids' daily lives, from social media to film, news, video games, and more.
