Dieter Trattmann was born and raised in Switzerland and in the late 70's, his fascination for music and film took him to the UK, where he attended the London Film School. In 1983, he joined MGMM Productions in London and directed his first commercial for MTV. In 1986, he signed with EMI/Picture Music International in London and continued his journey to become one of the top pioneering music video directors of the 80's and 90's. His award-winning work for the Thompson Twins, Donna Summer, Cliff Richard and Placido Domingo secured him contracts with Polygram, EMI/Capitol, Atlantic, Island, Virgin, Arista, RCA, Chrysalis, Geffen, WEA, SONY, Saatchi & Saatchi and many others.
Dieter has directed and edited over 200 music videos, commercials and live concerts worldwide.
In 1989, he moved to Los Angeles and signed with the A&R Group/Artists Company as a director.
In the late 90's Dieter transitioned into post production joining CBS Daytime & Prime Time On-Air promotion as an editor, working for CSI, CSI Miami, The Young & The Restless, The Bold & The Beautiful, Guiding Light, Everybody Loves Raymond, King Of Queens, the CMA's, the Creative Media and NAACP Awards.
In 2003, The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences honored him for his contribution to the 30th Daytime Emmys. Other awards include:
1985 UK Video Award - Best Live Concert. Thompson Twins 'Into The Gap Live' (Director).
1987 German Music Awards - Best Director. Cliff Richard 'Pretty One'.
1989 Montreux Pop Festival - Best International Video. Climie Fisher 'Rise to the Occasion'.
In 2004, Dieter moved into Lifestyle/Fashion TV as Senior Editor for Michael Young Media, working for publishing giants Conde Nast (Vogue/ABC) and Meredith Publishing.
