Steve graduated from Syracuse University with a BFA degree in Film Art.
In 2000, he formed StudiOANY Productions, a production and post production house in New York. He worked with high profile clients such as the United Nations. In 2003, he finished his first feature b/w documentary, "Message of K.T's Footsteps". The film was nominated for best film in the 2003 Taipei Film Festival as well as the 2003 Taiwan International Documentary Festival.
In 2004, he joined Double Edge Entertainment as the Operations Manager for Double Edge Digital, working on films such as Robert Towne's "Ask the Dust," Discovery Channel's "Battleground" series, and others.
In 2008, Woo formed 1718 Studio in Vancouver, a production and post production service. Woo's directorial debut was "The BreakUp Artist", with Amanda Crew in 2008. In 2009, he co-produced "The King of Fighters" starring Maggie Q.
In 2010, Woo moved to China to for his China directorial debut. It was executive produced by Jackie Chan. In 2011, he co-wrote and directed, "The Cross", starring award winning Simon Yam and Nick Cheung in Hong Kong. In 2013, he wrote and directed a TV series, "Game of Lies", starring Ella from Asia's super female group S.H.E. He also wrote and directed a TV series starring award winner Tien-Hsin.
His film, The Witness, won the Best Music award at the 2018 Vancouver International Chinese Film Festival and is also nominated in HK National Film Festival, HK Arthouse Film Festival, TMC London Film Festival, and a few others.
He joined Digital Domain in 2019 as VP of Studio Management, and was later appointed as Head of Studio China.
In 2023, he joined the Oscar nominated studio, The Embassy Visual Effects in Vancouver as the head of studio.
