Jashwant Gangani was born in Habukwad village, Bhavnagar district, Gujarat, India. An accomplished Indian film writer, director, and producer, he hails from a middle-class Gujarati family. Despite having no formal training or industry connections, Gangani embarked on a filmmaking journey driven by sheer talent and determination. At the young age of 26, he penned a blockbuster film, marking the beginning of an illustrious career. Transitioning seamlessly from the Gujarati film industry (Dhollywood) to the national stage of Bollywood, he became a prominent figure in Indian cinema.
In 1998, Gangani established his home production company. His first film "Man Sayba Ni Mediye (1999)" achieved immense success, paving the way for future triumphs. This was followed by the critically acclaimed "Maiyar Ma Mandu Nathi Lagtu (2001)" a film that gained recognition beyond regional boundaries. The movie was later adapted into multiple languages and earned 11 awards. With the success of this film, Wikipedia acknowledged its contributions by creating a Wiki Info Box, a notable achievement in the early days of the platform. Gangani's production house has since produced numerous successful films.
Expanding his creative pursuits, Gangani ventured into television with the popular series Kariyaawar, which enjoyed a successful run of 270 episodes. In 2015, he returned to Bollywood under his banner, Gangani Motion Pictures, with the film Bezuban Ishq.
In addition to his achievements in filmmaking, Gangani is a prolific lyricist, having written over 400 songs in both Gujarati and Hindi. His significant contributions to the film industry have been recognized with numerous awards from the Government of Gujarat, including the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Award. The Gujarat state government presented an award to Narendra Modi for the film Mein to Palavade Bandhi Preet (2005).
