Michael J. White is a screenwriter and novelist who co-wrote and produced "Song Without A Name," a feature film about a true case of child trafficking in 1980's Peru that premiered at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival and became the Peruvian Oscar® Entry for Best International Feature Film. His first novel, a coming-of-age love story called "Weeping Underwater Looks A Lot Like Laughter" (Penguin Putnam, 2010), was nominated for the Barnes & Noble Discovery Award and long listed for the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award. His writing has also appeared in The New York Times Magazine, The Korea Times, Conjunctions and The Chicago Review.
