The movie takes its name from an original music album, first recorded around 1999-2003 by writer/director Ryan Collins on a Fostex 4-track recorder. All instruments were played by him, including a miniature steel drum at points, in his living room. Many of the songs from that original (and lost) album were re-recorded with some lyrical changes for Bar Songs.
