This reminds me a lot of some of the early episodes of High Maintenance (now, sadly, it seems, no longer available anywhere), which I mean very much as a compliment. It's a realistic, funny, fairly open-ended slice of life.
Mostly, people do too much with shorts, not too little. They try to wow you with big concepts or special effects, and it's not impressive, it's boring and needy.
All this one is is an irritable, basically dysfunctional couple wandering around trying and failing to find a place to eat - partly hampered by their paleo-seeming no-carb diet - but it's completely engaging. It's also beautifully and economically executed, from writing to shooting to performances.
