Gettysburg: The Final Measure of Devotion

A documentary on the July 1863 Battle of Gettysburg: the lead-up to it, the fighting on all three days, the key people involved and the outcome. Also covered is Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address, a momentous summary of the war, why it is being fought and the state of it.

Made for the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg, the audience of this documentary is people who don't know much about the battle. Those of us who are already quite knowledgeable on the battle won't learn anything new but won't find it unwatchable. It's still interesting enough though skimps on quite a few details and the experts can be a bit long-winded.

Most disappointingly, the Gettysburg Address hardly gets more than a passing mention. If the producers are going to include Lincoln's superb, historic speech they should have given the it much more coverage.
