The fact that actor Rakshit Shetty did something like "Ulidavaru Kandanthe (UK)" is the only thing that he is banking upon but he should let that go because the audience won't. We will know him as the man who made "UK". Actor-Director Rishab Shetty directs "Ricky" and it is really badly done. Rishab also acts in a cameo and he has done a fine job as an actor much better than directing it. Letting the past go and not comparing it to "UK" also doesn't make this film feel better.
Every film stands on its story, then it's Screenplay, then the dialogues... Then comes the rest. When the story itself is so immature and childish, written like a social message, how can one enjoy anything in this film? Yes, there are films with social messages or moral values, but do entertain the audience. Well, this is not one of those. The actors do take their job seriously and everyone have proved their worth here, barring a few scenes where even the best of them have exaggerated themselves, but how much can they carry the burden of an entire film with a bad script? The music doesn't save the film either. It looked like a well made Govt. Ad. Though the trailer didn't bring any joy, the film doesn't too. The film falls flat in the very first 30 minutes with one song following another. The love story isn't strong enough, but is lengthy and has nothing that attracts the eye nor soothes the ear. It was sad watching good actors go waste, but it was more saddening watching Rakshit Shetty do such a film for a friend.
