ALUMINUM is a short film which delivers a perfect punch of what films should aspire too. In less than 15 minutes, Frank Ladner's direction generates a genuine story about connection that's sincere and poignant on more levels than most feature films.
Each characters are represented honestly, simple and sincere, and aspire to something greater than themselves even though they are simply being honest in their performances. It is a testament to the film that there seems to be no "acting" for the camera. At times you can see where lines may have been delivered better but for the authentic feel, it makes sense on why and how Ladner shot the way he did. It's as if we as an audience are literally dropped into the realm which Ladner creates by his wonderful story telling.
In the style of documentary/narrative it is a quick reminder on how humanity can be if we simply breathe into our circumstances instead of forcing ourselves into something fake.
It is a beautiful story that gives an honest performance and wonderful message of believing in ones' self, even when you are unsure of yourself.
