The Girl with No Name was a pleasant surprise. I honestly was not expecting much from this low budget (I mean seriously LOW budget) horror-comedy movie, but I ended up really enjoying it. The concept is very simple and straight forward but if you pick up on the satire then you will realize what a clever little flick this is. This is a satire on modern society and the stereotypical roles men and women are expected to play. Toxic masculinity is a big theme in this movie and the director is not subtle at all with the feminist message the movie delivers. The characters think "the girl" is a demon simply because she is able to outsmart them and in some cases overpower them. I found this very amusing because in the society we live in women are often victims of stereotypical norms. The men in this movie are exaggerated but at the same time it is a fair criticism on how toxic these sexist societal norms are. There are jarring digital distortions that occur throughout the movie...I am not quite sure the purpose/meaning behind these distortions but I found them to be very effective. They could possibly be a metaphor for how gender roles have become distorted in modern society? I should mention that this movie is quite violent and vulgar and the violence/vulgarity is nicely put in contrast with the humor. The characters are very offensive...this movie is really funny but you must have a dark sense of humor to appreciate it. I would love to see this movie re-made with a larger budget, but for a micro budget flick this is a 10/10.
