Barley Fields on the Other Side of the Mountain

The filming is stunning and captures the unique beauty of the region. The cinematography is top-notch, with breathtaking shots of the mountainous terrain and intricate cultural details that give a glimpse into the traditional way of life in Tibet.

However, the plot of the film falls short in comparison to the quality of its cinematography. The relationships between the main characters, including the father and daughter, mother and daughter, and friends, are not fleshed out enough and the transitions between them feel abrupt. This leaves the audience with a lack of emotional connection to the characters and makes it difficult to fully invest in the story.

While it is true that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has a history of suppressing dissent and controlling religion, as well as engaging in brutal acts to suppress escapees, these political issues are not given enough depth in the film. The film could have done more to delve into these sensitive topics and offer a more nuanced and delicate portrayal of the reality in Tibet.
