Fauzia Batool, a young girl from countryside, who dreams big but is trapped in conservative society of village. We see her questioning patriarchy and misogyny of her own family, relatives and villagers. She makes it clear that she is bold in words and actions.
I love Fauzia's character. She is not perfect. She's not a pitiful girl, but she's not very wise either. She's very courageous though but not unrealistically strong. There are moments when she breaks down, and she doesn't hide her feeling, she cries her heart out but then wipes her tears and fights back. Given that audience is more used to see good angel like lead actresses, Fauzia is breath of fresh air, she's not all perfect but still we sympathize with her. Kudos to Saba for Fauzia's potrayal. Although I found her little bit unsuitable for a Desi village girl and some scenes especially in initial episodes were over the top. But later on acting was bang on. She shines in feisty scenes and sad moments!
Another character, Rehan , Fauzia's best friend, is remarkable. Rehan is what real friends look like. He doesn't preach her morals, instead he helps her find a way to make a living. Actor is amazing too. Although I am not a fan of stereotypical gay man in fashion( I mean gay man need not be girlish, they're like other man too). Moments between Rehan and Fauzia are one of the most sensitive part of this drama. Abid, as Fauzia's husband, a serial cheater, is convincing.
Slightly underwhelmed by Fauzia's father. Fauzia's mother's role seems slightly underutilized but still she is a good actress. Fauzia's elder brother and sister in law are sort of flat characters, I wished there were more layers in relationship between between Fauzia and her brother.
Sheheryar is a lovely man, sometimes sounds hypocritical but much better than other man in her life. Although I didn't quite understand why he fell in love with her. I don't see a compelling reason to fall in love with her from what sheheryar knows about her. But things work out nevertheless.
Climax could have been more dramatic. Overall, if you ignore some parts, the drama is really good. Lead actress pulled off an unconventional role. I honestly don't care how similar or different this story is from Qandeel Baloch's real life. Bottom line in both cases is people might have a whole different personality off the screen, they have their own stories to tell. Think before you judge them. And even if they're not quite a role model, what in the world justifies a murder??!!
Watch this to realize how the society wronged rebels like Qandeel. May her soul rest in peace.
