It hurts me to say this as a big fan of the first movie and as someone who enjoyed the second movie despite its flaws. But watching this movie actually felt like torture. I was fighting with myself not to stand up and leave not even half way through.
Lets start with the positive things:
The locations actually look pretty nice, as far as I'm aware it was filmed in 4 different countries and I'm guessing thats where most of the budget went but i have to admit the nature and the "base" as they call it look pretty cool and they are consistent throughout the movie which is impressive considering it was all in different locations.
The acting is decent and i might be biased in this because I'm attached to these characters, but with how abysmal the script was I'm impressed that the acting is halfway decent for the most part.
Now the bad, and its really really bad:
The sound is terrible, a lot of the time I actually had no idea what someone said or who even said it. For the first time in my life i wished for subtitles in a movie I was watching in my native language.
The script and the story are just plain bad. The premise of the movie seemed interesting on paper, but it was executed so unimaginably poorly that its insane to me anyone looked at the finished product and thought it was good to go. For the most part nothing is really happening, and when it is happening everything the characters do is fueled by these nonsensical out of left field decisions that usually make zero sense to any normal person watching. The twist is not only the biggest let down of the movie but its unpredictable ONLY because no one would expect something so stupid and nonsensical to be the twist that supposed to not only shock the audience but also tie the whole thing together.
After the twist the way the movie unfolds is just laughable and by that point most of the audience was laughing, partly at the stupidity of what was being shown on screen and partly at themselves for spending money and time on this.
Im not even going to mention the ending scene which left me just staring blankly at the credits go by shocked with how much this movie was patting itself on the back thinking that was this grandiose ending to this epic saga but it was just.... stupid.
Oh and the vfx (shooting guns, explosions, etc) suck , I've seen better gun effects in amateur youtube videos.
All in all I'm extremely disappointed in what I've seen and i really think this might have been the worst movie I have seen in a long long time. Its been 5 days since i saw it and just can't stop thinking about how terrible of a time I had and how hard it was staying and actually finishing it.
