L'occhio del ragno

This Italian-Austrian gangster film was made shortly before the start of the big EuroCrime wave and is therefore not a typical representative of this style. Told in a somewhat more lengthy manner, it's less about the action elements and more about the relationships between the characters.

Paul Valery is caught stealing jewelry and goes to prison. His treacherous accomplices get away with the loot. Professor Krüger (Van Johnson) and his assistant Gloria (Lucretia Love) free Paul (afterwards he looks like Antonio Sabato again) and subject him to facial surgery. A new break should rise. But Paul has a desire for revenge. This is especially true for Hans Fischer (Klaus Kinski)...

Great music by Carlo Savina, typical Italian flair, but the production doesn't really get going. Director Roberto Bianchi Montero didn't cover himself with fame. But it's definitely enough for friends of the genre and the actors involved!
