I can't find much information about this film on the internet - a few tidbits on Letterbxed and a review on a blog. This will be the first review on IMDb. Dead Curse appears to have largely been forgotten (or simply ignored), even by fans of Asian cult oddities, most likely because it's not very good and does very little of interest with its vengeful ghost storyline, in which the spirit of an evil witch gets even with the cop who killed her by haunting his family.
The film opens as the witch and her followers are about to sacrifice a child to their god Kali (amusingly mis-spelled in the subtitles as Carla). The police interrupt the ritual and shoot everyone dead, but not before the cult's leader places a curse on the cop leading the operation. Scoot forward four years and the mysterious appearance of three bodies in a creepy house signals the beginning of a series of creepy occurrences for the cop, his young daughter Mimi, his sister, and her policeman boyfriend Ah Chiu (gesundhheit!).
The script does throw in some interesting Chinese superstition about the number 7 and the fact that July is considered the 'ghost month', when bad things happen, but the majority of the film is the epitome of mediocrity, with the witch periodically popping up to scare the protagonists (by placing a green light under her face and cackling incessantly), while two ghost children try to lure Mimi to her death. Even the climax, in which a supernatural sifu battles the witch in a junkyard with the help of four elemental deities is lacklustre, the only thing cheaper than the location being the special effects, which make Rentaghost look sophisticated.
3.5/10, generously rounded up to 4 for the hilarious sex scene, in which Ah Chiu (gesundheit!) makes it with the hot ghost witch, the woman riding the cop like they're in the final furlong of the Grand National, and for the oh-so-scary moment when Ah Chiu's girlfriend is chased down a flight of steps by an empty Sprite can.
