Bees

The character of Dr. Allen, Dr. Saxon, Dr. Haggarty, Dr. Zimbalist and Dr. Parks are all homages to previous killer bee films. Irwin Allen directed The Swarm (1978)', John Saxon starred in 'The Bees (1978)', Dan Haggerty and Efrem Zimbalist Jr. starred in 'Terror out of the Sky (1978)', and Michael Parks starred in 'The Savage Bees. (1976)'

Melinda Pierce runs into a barn, and there's blood on her shirt. When she closes the door of the barn door, the blood is gone.
