A French Ed Wood, an ugly byproduct of the New Wave, produces and directs artsy films that no one cares to see. One day, a wacky tax auditor (Ceccaldi) demands to look at his accounting books. The auditor spots a lot of awkward fraud attempts and tells the filmmaker (Guybet) that he's in deep crap. Desperate for money, he confides his problems to a car mechanic who tells him that he'd like to invest 150 000 francs in an art film, but in an art film with some "meat in action". That night, the mechanic knocks on Guybet's door. He has the money... but also a big wound in his gut. He dies. Guybet hides the body under his bed, then in his car's trunk. Of course, Guybet is much too dumb and his attempts to get rid of the corpse all fail. He hires a reputed artsy director (Menez) to make the film. They have to shoot it in three days, and with a minimum of frills (all of the film's frills are the pieces of lingerie... and all of the thrills too). By now, the cadaver is in Guybet's bed and Guybet's wife and star is sleeping with the auditor. A grenade explodes on the set and the whole gang goes to Heaven, where God asks Guybet to shoot a movie for him and Ceccaldi to look at his books. To top it all, the stars all sing a tacky disco song during the final credits.
Two original ideas, later reprised more successfully by more talented people: The corpse as a key character (remember Bernie?) and the man crazy about his pet fish (remember Wanda?).
The acting is the worst thing in this flick. Guybet is simply terrible as the producer, and it's really no wonder that his career as a comic leading man died along with this turkey. The man has no flair for screwball comedy; his real talent is as a straight man, like in The Mad Adventures of Rabbi Jacob. Menez plays Menez, which is even worse. Only Ceccaldi is okay.
