Pleasant enough, this hedonistic Adam & Eve/Ultimate Pictures feature is disappointing compared to the numerous classic and near-classic romances the label released at the turn of this century from a highly talented team.
Producer-director Nicholas Steele collaborated with the Booth Bros. - Philip and Christopher (who subsequently transitioned from porn to an on-going series of mainstream horror movies). The results were sensual and romantic features, but "Weekend Getaway" is mediocre and far more assembly-line than usual.
It concerns three women and three men, each trio traveling to a mountain resort for the weekend. Coincidences pile up quickly, as leads Jewel De'Nyle and Randy Spears are ex-lovers, and Lee Stone & Temptress laundromat acquaintances who are surprised to see each other not only arriving at the same time but forced to share a single cabin.
Philip is responsible for this inferior screenplay, and the movie goes nowhere in a hurry, devolving into outdoor XXX sex scenes. My favorite is a flashback that is barely related to the principal cast at all, as Brit import Flick Shagwell makes love to Evan Stone by a waterfall.
Christopher provides the original music score as usual, but it drones on dully, not on par with his generally haunting contributions to better films.
Oddest element here is a BTS short subject by the movie's editor Dane', which frequently trashes co-star Jade for various matters, as especially star Jewel De'Nyle makes derogatory remarks about her. Jade is also interviewed, but her side of the story is not presented.
