George Lucas is considering his options for a Star Wars television show. Working in his ranch in a comfortable pair of jeans with a daring lumberjack shirt/tee-shirt combo, he is writing away when a group of television executives arrive to pitch their most recent ideas to him. With conceptual footage of what each show would look like they each take turns to present their ideas; however will Lucas like any of them? I watched this on the Atom Films website and found myself with a simple concept that is well set-up to deliver a hatful of spoof moments on the Star Wars films. And this it does very well. In the same ways as another film spoofed COPS, this film has a couple of TV series perverted to be the new Star Wars spin-off. Not all of them are brilliant but while the George's Angels one is obvious, I found the Sith Million Dollar Man drew a big laugh out of me simply because it was inventive and clever.
The bits between see the executives dealt with in ways befitting Lucas (eg frozen into carbonite with the "I love you" moment being wonderfully spoofed). These are also funny and well delivered. Visually the design is impressive and the makers have used effects from the films to good effect while it does really help that Starkey is the spit of Lucas. Not side-splittingly funny then but still very witty and entertaining with a real feel for the films and not a jot of malice in the humour (which is nice).
