Night Shock

This Italian porn feature aims a bit higher than most, but fails to develop the proper suspense for its film noir genre. Old school concise sex scenes (plentiful but short in duration) plus languid direction by Ricky Grimaldi waste the project's potential.

Set-up gives some hints of the Hollywood classic "Laura", especially as beautiful star Laura Angel plays a character named Laura, who journalist David Perry searches for after a one-night stand. She's a hooker, and the presence of surveillance cameras and CCTV implies Perry is being manipulated by the bad guy, Andrea Nobili, who plays a characer named Andrea Stone.

Another baddie, played by severely styled blonde Renata Rey figures into the story, and a stunning scene stealer Chipy Marlow is ultimately more memorable here than star Laura. But the slowly building suspense adds up to nothing, with a climax of an outdoor orgy that makes little sense as Grimaldi drops the ball on his storytelling.

Detracting mightily is the evidently MOS type of shooting, as even the original Italian version has poor dubbing and no direct background sound, rendering even the sex scenes remote. Acting under the circumstances is okay, but the jazzy score becomes quite repetitious.
