Alexander Huxley is the world's smartest man; there isn't any real debate about that and, if there was, then he would easily win it because he is, as I mentioned, the world's smartest man. However as with all great gifts, this intelligence comes at a price and Alexander finds himself limited in other aspects of his life.
Not quite sure what to make of this film because it seems like it has had all the important and value-adding bits cut out of it and only a core left behind. The idea is that Huxley is smart but yet cannot meet women or indeed even move himself physically. Why the latter issue would be the case is never explained or even mentioned and it is this lack of foundation that made it hard for me to care. With this not explained the "smart" aspect of the title is not really used either apart from the discussion with the visiting Julia. So what we are left with is a man being moved around by servants. This in itself is not funny at all and it badly needed some bookending around this scene and some development of the scene itself to get it even close to working.
As it is it just doesn't work at all and I found nothing amusing, only bemusing. At worst one could take it as a crass caricature of Stephen Hawking but to be honest the film I saw was so poorly thought out and delivered that I doubt it would even have an agenda so clear.
