Many have received a secret invitation to master's house and one arrives mortally wounded. The master denies sending out the invitations. The son of the dead man demands an answer. A group of women arrive to deliver revenge and the master is killed just as his adopted son arrives. The women have come for the Witty Sword but the one they get is a fake. Flashbacks begin to answer questions about what is really going on here but the plot only thickens.
The movie starts intensely on all levels of plot, action, and characters. Plus the set seems worthy of Shaw Brothers studios. My copy is widescreen with Chinese and English subtitles typical of a laser disk converted to computer file. The resolution seems a bit short of laser disk quality though but I can't complain for a movie from 1978. The translation to English of the subtitles is minimally comprehensible.
I appreciate the other reviewer's effort but must make a correction as David Chiang is not in this movie. Overall I rate this above average and recommend it for all fans.
