The whole film is closely based on a real event: in march 2001, the body of the Italian banker Enrico Cuccia was stole by Giampaolo Pesce and Franco Bruno Rapelli, whose purpose was to receive a ransom for the body and immediately return it to the family. The couple winded up in serious financial difficulties after their company's bankrupt.
