When casting, Twilight hadn't come out yet, which means the producers had no idea the attention the movie was about to get when they cast Pattinson in the lead role of Tyler. "I didn't know who he was," Allen Coulter [Director] admitted. "That was an advantage because I cast him just because I liked him."

During the scene in which Tyler (Pattinson) storms into Charles' (Brosnan) office, in one shot Charles' suit jacket is unbuttoned to become buttoned up in a couple of shots.

The UK release was cut, this film was originally shown to the BBFC in an unfinished version. The BBFC advised the distributor that the film was likely to receive a 15 classification but that the requested 12A classification could be obtained by making cuts in two sequences. The distributor were asked to remove a strong verbal sex reference (to being 'sodomised') and to reduce a scene of strong violence in which the hero continues to beat a man who has already been knocked to the ground. When the finished version of the film was submitted, these changes has been made and the film was classified 12A.
