Mike Matei based his Inspector Gadget voice on Gadget's appearance as a menu guide on a DVD for Super Show dos Irmãos Mario (1989). Matei and James Rolfe had previously reviewed this DVD feature in the video Inspector Gadget Mario (2011). Rolfe provided his own take on the voice in another video, Inspector Gadget Explains How to Use Cinemassacre (2011).

Mike Matei breaking new ground

What else can you say? Masterpiece. Not since Jimmy Vs The Punching Bag have I seen such breathtaking filmmaking. He's not a film curator who's made over 500 films, but he's definitely had time to make one of the 21st centuries finest pieces so far. I'm not sure how he had enough time to write out such an intuitive screenplay. Fabulous voice acting. The animation was magnificent. If it weren't for the politics plaguing Hollywood, Mike Matei would have at the very least been nominated for a best actor award. But that's ok, because real film buffs understand quality when they see it. If you have a spare moment, do yourself a favour and give this underground classic a watch, highly recommended.
