An emotional film about a man named Leonard who lives within the fringes of society. Socially inept, he has no friends or family, aside from a librarian who shares a common interest for the love of fiction. Things begin to fall apart for Leonard once he discovers a mysterious box one cold evening. The mystery begins to unravel further as the contents in the box tell a story of a woman named Lorraine. What begins as curiosity turns to obsession thrusting Leonard into a path of manipulation and ultimately murder.
