Don't forget to watch the post credits scene.
As someone who has experienced the difficult line between producing "art" and "entertainment", I felt the storylines of the primary and secondary characters in this film were mostly realistic. The director Oji (male) and the producer Yukishiro (male) were the weakest characters, but it's understandable as the spotlight for this film are the female characters, and I feel they truly shine.
I liked how they showed what life can be like when working overtime in the creative industry - sometimes it's an absolute nightmare with rework and sometimes you feel like you're part of something much greater than you.
I also like that most characters' struggles felt relatable. The plot left me guessing how things would turn out right up to the end.
I already liked the anime TV series, "Shirobako", which is also about the anime industry and felt this film was one level better due to the competition between the two studios.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that Tsujimura Mizuki, the author of Lonely Castle in the Mirror (I felt the book was much better than the anime) was also a writer for this film.
