Even though I didn't fully understand the seriousness of the film as a child, being a part of the cast was nothing short of magical. I was just a boy back then, but the joy I felt while working on the film has stayed with me all these years. We traveled all over the city, filming scenes in places that are now etched into my memory forever. I remember vividly the day we were at the riverbank, and how we needed a blue flower for one of the scenes. We got it from a local seller, but instead of buying it, we returned it right after the shot. It's these small, simple moments-like when we shot on the boat by the river-that continue to bring a smile to my face.
Coming from the slums myself, this film was more than just a role for me-it was an opportunity that I never could have imagined. It's still one of the most precious memories of my childhood, and it fills me with warmth to think back on it. What really touched me the most, though, was Max Uncle, our director. In 2018, after all those years, he made the effort to track down my father's contact information to reach out to me again before he left for Germany. It felt so special and unexpected, like a part of my past had come back into my life. Sadly, my father's phone was stolen, and with it, I lost Max Uncle's contact information. If he ever sees this, I hope we can reconnect one day. I would love nothing more than to meet again and thank him for everything.
I'm also incredibly grateful to Taranjit Ma'am (who I fondly remember as Taranjit Aunty back then). She wasn't just our translator, she was like a bridge between my family and the crew, making everything feel smooth and easy for us. She was kind, patient, and always there to help-looking back, I realize how much she contributed to making the experience comfortable for me and my parents.
Even after all these years, I can't help but smile when I think about it. I may have been just a kid, but those days spent working on the film remain some of my happiest memories. Max Uncle, if you're reading this, I hope we can meet again someday. I will forever be grateful to you, to Taranjit Ma'am, and to everyone who made this experience so special. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be part of something so memorable-it truly shaped a part of who I am today.
