Not only is the Mousetrap for the Cat the first detective in the history of the Kvartal 95 studio, it is also the debut directorial work of this magnitude for Mikhail Savin. Previously, he worked on scripts for projects such as Matchmakers and Love in the City, and directed the show Fun Games. 3. The shooting of the 12-episode film took 51 shooting shifts, but the longest working day lasted about 18 hours. 4. According to the director, even in the process of creating the script, the participation of actor Dmitry Surzhikov was planned in the project. Only initially he was supposed to play an oligarch, not a journalist. In total, 7 popular Ukrainian actors were considered for the role of three oligarchs, among whom was Mikhail Kukuyuk. But in the end, the roles went to Sergei Siplivy, Andrei Romaniy and Evgeny Kovyrzanov. 5. Filming of The Mousetrap took place last summer, simultaneously with another project of the studio - the acclaimed series Papik. Therefore, actress Daria Petrozhitskaya, who played in both series, had to wander from one set to another, sometimes allocating only a couple of hours to sleep. 6. The life of the student city was filmed on the territory of the Tax Academy of Ukraine, which is located in Irpin. And the church, which according to the plot was bought by one of the oligarchs, was found in the village of Bucha. At the time of filming, there had never been a worship service in it. 7. According to the plot of the series, in the house where the journalist lives, there is a dog. But it turned out that in real life, actor Dmitry Surzhikov is afraid of these animals (he was bitten by a dog as a child). Therefore, the scenes with the dog had to be removed from the script. 8. During the filming, director Mikhail Savin lost 12 kg. "I didn't plan it, it's just that for me these few months were like one big shooting day. During this period I had no family or friends, and work took all the time," the director admits. 9. Some of the most dramatic scenes of the series were filmed at the current airport.
