Infidelity: A Love Story

Lily Cade take a less militant, in-your-face approach that is most appropriate to "Infidelity: A Love Story", closer to Paul Mazursky mainstream cinema than one would have supposed. So the sex is explicit - the main thing is a caring treatment of her characters and convincing performances.

The romantic ups & downs of the main characters Ela Darling and Daisy Layne are well imagined by Lily in her 9th film as director, and she also appears in a sex scene of her own. Cade has a distinctive personality that reminds me of vintage Carrie Fisher, and I would love to see her acting in mainstream cinema, if crossover were routinely permitted.

What makes this lesbian opus from Filly Films different, not only from the often gonzo product emanating from that label (itself a subsidiary of gonzo company Combat Zone) but from competitors like Gamma, Sweetheart and Girlfriends, is that it portrays with some depth a long-term lesbian relationship that is not stereotyped.

The romantic life cycle experienced by Ela and Daisy's characters, with its share of infidelities as telegraphed by the show's moniker, is interesting and organic to the story -not a mere springboard for Sex Vignette #4 and the like. Supporting cast has ultra-talented performers including Dani Daniels and the late Amber Rayne, plus newcomers like Nicky Halden.
