This series shown in various formats in Sweden 1996 - 2002 was an updated version of Australia's "Sons and Daughters" serial 1981 - 1987. The original was better. The Swedish version was a very close copy with a few alterations for local conditions and being 15 years later. The basic plot involved the meeting of two teenagers who fall in love only later discover that they had been separated at birth. The Bovallius and Toivonen families were based upon the Hamiltons and Palmers in the original. Skilda världar is repeated during the summers on TV4 and has been successfully sold to Norway's TV2. A more successful version "Verbotene Liebe" 1995 is still in production in Germany. The Swedish one was originally half hour episodes 4 or 5 nights each week exactly how Channel 7 in Australia aired the original. Strangely, being as it was TV4 Sweden's most successful show, they altered to weekly one hour episodes and the series had jumped on by one year. This was probably to accommodate the departure of several significant players. Why tinker with something that isn't broken?
