Doesn't quite measure up to potential...
20 July 2001
The Way of the Gun has a lot going for it. A great director, great actors (especially Benicio del Toro), great potential for the plot. Somehow, halfway through the movie though, it seems like the plot unravels and one starts to contemplate the holes in the plot---stemming from the intertwined relationships of the characters and the motives of everyone in the movie's interest in the baby to be born. However, it's a fun movie and the first half is very interesting and full of plot twists which make it worth watching. It just doesn't quite measure up to McQuarrie's best, "The Usual Suspects."
