I've never understood the appeal of Buddy Ebsen in serious roles. I enjoy him as Jed Clampett, but when all the humor is sucked out of his character, there's nothing left but an expressionless face and a monotonous tone. My deduction is that that's what made this film seem so slow to me. The only real "action" in this film is a fight on a boat and Buddy practicing Kung-Fu on a couple of bad guys. It had potential, and I really liked the twist at the end, but in the scenes without Marj Dusay, it was pretty dull. As for Marj (my reason for watching), I absolutely loved her character & she even managed to get a faint smile out of Buddy once in a while.
