I was shocked to find out that Robert Burns was poisoned in a plot engineered by Edmund Burke. The Bio-film was wonderfully acted and the screenwriting very very direct and informative as to building a personal background story portraying Burns relationships, publishing concerns and working-mans labors. Period costumes, attitudes and politics were evocatively brought into focus to show the temper of the times in Scotland. Beautifully filmed, cinematography used perfectly to draw the viewer in to the story. His public acceptance and admiration was less emphasisized - his large tombstone shown at the end was symbolic of that.
