Piefke, the horror of Regiment
7 September 2005
Well well well... a lot of fussing, falling over and cross-dressing with very little comic effect. Set in around 1900, we see a royal namby-pamby make a fool of himself in army training camp. Very moderate historic interest, and some pretty ladies wearing incredibly tight corsets, but otherwise a totally pointless flick with no redeeming factors whatsoever. Music composed by Peter Igelhoff, a very talented composer, but there are no songs or musical numbers. Perhaps this kind of entertainment was OK back in the fifties, but I can hardly believe that people queued to see it. The colours on my copy are good and sound quality is better than average.
