Having JUST seen this film...
12 October 2010
Having JUST seen this film at the Busan International Film festival, I was quite happy with it.

I am from the U.K. living in Korea and it was nice to get to see a film from the UK. Especially a good one.

I will keep this review short but sweet, with no spoilers, but I will say that it was a very entertaining film, with moments of pure madness that actually make us worry for the character and those around him, while also getting angry at others around him. Seeing the world through his eyes while being aware of the balance of the perception of the other characters.

Having worked in mental health in the UK it was very realistic to the point of comedic absurdity (at least for myself) which was well done.

I even found the "interludes" reminiscent of the Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy by Douglas Adams...although that could just be me. I also found myself remembering the movie "Pi" for a scene(and mannerisms), but I will not mention the scene here for reasons of spoiler.

It is also of note, that it was nice to see Cathy Tyson on screen again (I have liked her work since she appeared on Red Dwarf almost 20 years ago).

If your a fan of movies dealing with the issues of: quantum physics, dementia/schizophrenia, conspiracy and absurdly dark humour..then this may be for you.

I recommend it for anyone as it is a very honest look at the human condition, however dark the journey can be.
