Review of Himmat

Himmat (1996)
5/10
Decent at parts

Warning: Spoilers
After some more nonsense movies like Dushmani:A Violent Love Story, Deol moved on with success with Angrakshak(Bodyguard) which was decent, and then, he did his third movie in 1995 but due to production delays and filming delays, Himmat released a few months later in 1996. It was his first 1996 release but it wasn't a hit but neither a flop. The movie is definitely a copy of either James Bond or Mission Impossible. But, it has its Hindi masala and action that makes it unique and different. Sadly, even this movie isn't fully decent. It has its moments to impress the audience with Deol as the smart agent. But, the story itself has clichés, the editing is average and certain scenes don't make sense. The casting is not shown at first and this may be another editing delay from 1995. Because, only a few reasonable movies have castings after 30-45 minutes of the movie, but this movie isn't reasonable much. Acting is average, Sudesh Behry is wasted in a small role and the villains are all typecast, Deol as the smart agent does well, Tabu is average, Shilpa sucks, rest are okay. But, the movie is just decent in parts, its nothing good. Overall, another Deol movie that went unoticed but it wasn't a flop.
