Before shows like Spongebob, Fairly Odd Parents, or Double Dare Nickelodeon's most popular show was the 1981 children's sketch comedy series called You Can't Do That On Television. The show was most noted for its use of the green slime which is now the trademark of Nickelodeon, but the show came to life prior to showing up on Nickelodeon and actually started on a local Canadian station in 1979. While the show ended in 1990, it continued in reruns until 1994 before disappearing from the airwaves for good. Thankfully filmmaker David Dillehunt took a trip back to the show that broke all the rules and made slime a household name in the documentary You Can't Do That On Film.
