Revisiting the mysterious world created in her first film, Vivienne Again, writer/director Kim Garland paints a darker, more ominous picture with Deal Travis In. I thought Vivienne Again was quite good and this second film shows Garland sharpening her directorial skills. The film is beautifully shot and scored and wonderfully acted. Travis is played Nick Sandow (Waxey Gordon on Boardwalk Empire, soon appearing in Orange is the New Black), who delivers a fantastic performance. The supporting role of Carlo is well played by another experienced actor, Chris Kipiniak. The second in a trilogy of films dealing with this subject matter, Deal Travis In has left me eagerly awaiting the third.
