THE CON ARTIST is another film in the Japanese pinku eiga saga made easily available to Western viewers thanks to its availability on Amazon Prime. The only problem with the Amazon service is that the films are heavily cut of their sexual content, but at least viewers can watch the plots play out.
Sadly, THE CON ARTIST doesn't really have much of a story outside of the sex. It's a rural comedy about a couple of friends who are always engaging in a bit of friendly rivalry. Inevitably their friendship is tested to the limit when a beautiful stranger shows up and both men attempt to have their wicked way with her. The plot is occasionally furthered by the interventions of further characters, but it's a very slight piece, although the actors are effective in their parts and the characterisation is better than expected.
