Sarkar 3, directed by Ram Gopal Varma, is a dark film about 'Sarkar' Subhash Nagre, who, after the death of his son Shankar in the previous installment, is angrier than ever. The movie has a new set of enemies, a Kejriwal-esque politician, a bereaved daughter and the return of his grandson Shivaji (son of Vishnu Nagre), who has motives of his own, and how Sarkar and his trusted aides deal with the menace.

Some scenes of the movie show the talent RGV possesses, and which blew the minds of the movie-goers in the 90's. He has had a long career if making dark movies, starting from Shiva to Sarkar. But sadly, as mentioned, it is only in glimpses. Some scenes are totally absurd, and some characters are illogical. But, the movie is much better than the previous few films of RGV, which were totally unwatchable.

The dialogues of the movie are for the most part okay, but some make you roll your eyes over. I am a big fan of the "Govinda Govinda" chant, and it set the mood of the movie. The Ganpati Aarti in the movie was very well done, and a few scenes involving Subhash and Shivaji were well shot.

Coming to the performances, Amitabh Bachchan aces the role of Subhash Nagre yet again. Although some dialogues were a bit weird, Bachchan sir does a fine job. Amit Sadh as Shivaji is great too, and so is Yami Gautam as Annu. Jackie Shroff was a bit over the top and the dialogues given to him were weird and odd. Ronit Roy was intense and did a fine job with the limited dialogue. Supriya Pathak was good too.

All said and done, this movie could have been much better. But it could have been much worse, and thank God and the actors of the movie, to make sure that it wasn't.
