Rollercoaster Tycoon is a fun time and money management game that allows you to build the Theme park of your dreams while budgeting your money, keep guests happy, improve park ratings and earn trophy rewards. Now for the overview of Rollercoaster Tycoon 1.
The Good gameplay parts
Your Handymen can help you clean up the barf on the ground, pick up litter, empty trash bins, water flower gardens, mow lawns (However there is a shovel glitch that you can click the grass on and it makes the grass short again without having to mow the lawns.) Make sure you hire enough Handyman to keep the park clean so guests will stay happy.
The Mechanical Workers can help you inspect rides to make sure they're safe, they can fix rides such as the Merry Go Round, Haunted House, Thrill rides, and Rollercoaster rides. You'll be needing them to maintain your rides including safety cutout, restraints stuck, fixing the brake failure.
The entertainers, while they do nothing but wander around the park and dance, they can help guests stay happy and improve park ratings.
The classical Music from the merry go round and the theme songs that you can play for each ride.
The food stalls, drink stalls, souvenir stalls, balloon stalls, restrooms can help your guests buy food if they're hungry, or buy drinks if they're thirsty. They can use the restroom. Also the benches you place on the path can help guests rest if they're sick or if they're tired and eat their food and drink soda. They can buy umbrellas in case it rains and park maps and toys.
The jumping fountains, beautiful scenery, flowers, well placed paths can keep a guest happy and even improve park ratings.
The research chart can be used to research different rides, food stalls or even brand new scenery or jumping fountains.
The rollercoaster rides, thrill rides, gentle rides can improve popularity in your theme park. The indoor rides are good for when it rains.
The Bad Gameplay parts
The Security guards are the worst workers in the world to hire and they waste your money, and no I'm not kidding, they do nothing but slowly wander around the park trying to stop vandals from breaking benches, lamp posts, and litter bins which they suck at doing. I wished the creators of Rollercoaster Tycoon 1 had improved the game so the guests can have the option to commit crime like steal stuff or get into fights so the policemen can be useful to have. Also if you find damaged property, replace it and find the guest that was super angry and help him to calm down.
There's no option to fast forward the game in this version. Yes I can understand this is the first game, but why does the game move at a slow time limit speed. I would've loved to have the fast forward feature in the game so I can get to the end of the years much more quickly.
Thankfully the 2017 Rollercoaster Tycoon PC Steam version has a fast forward button which make's it more fun to play.
There's basically no money cheats to allow you to get you more money for your park. I would've like to get free money in the game. Also there's no unlock cheat that unlocks all of your parks, you have to manually win each scenario which is a pain in the butt to do.
Some of the rides can crash causing guests to die or they can drown which is the worst thing that can happen in this game.
Why doesn't this game feature girl guests? Why are all the guests boy characters? They should've included girl characters to make the game even more interesting.
Overall this game is fun and isn't too hard to play. There's no actual ending to the game which I wish was included in the game. The game Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 sequel is the same as the first game but with more features. I like how fun this game is but the time limit grinding is a pain to wait through in the original game.
